A little note..

I am currently having an issue uploading my evaluation, as it is not fully loading on Slideshare, I will, however, continue to try throughout the day.

Final video

This is the final video, and has taken a lot of effort, I am aware that the lip synching is a little off, however it would have ruined my entire video if I tried to edit it again.

In this final video you can see how the video actually developed from the very first one with the other star, for instance I added the black out bit at the beginning introducing the song and the album name which is quite a conventional way of presenting it. This then moves onto the slow motion, which I felt eased the audience into the video, allowing them to get to grips with the story; this is why the footage differed slightly from the original storyboard. I also used a lot of camera shots so that the audience would not get bored.

In general I have tried to tell the story of the lyrics (as Goodwin suggested music videos did) by designing an email that showed how he didn't understand the female in the story, and showing that she doesn't care about him anymore through the use of effects such as black and white and water ripples. This allowed me to show that those images were in the past and the colours were 'now' and that as the song says she is 'walking away'. These effects are a little unconventional, especially the water ripple and the outlined heart that appears after half way of the video, however, with this being a pop video, I thought the genre was quite well portrayed and that most videos now use a mixture of genre ideas, hence why it is unconventional as videos very rarely keep to their own genre.

I also attempted editing lip synching in, however, this took a lot of time and it is not perfect but through the use of Pinnacle, I managed to edit to the best of my ability and once again is conventional in one way but unconventional in another. For instance, a lot of videos show the star miming at the chorus, though it is unconventional, because in the first chorus, it is every other line I asked the person to mime. I thought that this would grab the attention of the audiences more, keeping it fresh, using a mixture of diagetic and non diagetic sound in a way.

Also, to attempt to make it more realistic, I used images to portray the reality more, however it would have been better if I could have used the actual people, but due to lack of resources (money and equipment) this was difficult to do. I did, however, manage to use the second star in the end bit to show that it is not just a dream or that the artist never sees anyone as I was very aware with the photographs, that if the audience cannot see the photographs, then they might assume she is a bit of a stalker. As I have explained though, if this was a professional video, I would have had more resources to hand and could have diminished this thought.

I then ended the video the same way as beginning, slowing the pace and adding the artists name, song title and album title that showed some continuity for the video.

Inside covers

These 3 images show the final ideas of my inside cover, and two of them are very similar, at the time of creating them I didn't realise if the writing would look better in bold for every other line, and then the other line in italics or just every other line in italics. Also I tried showing the intertextuality within my products with the colour schemes used, for instance the navy backgrounds or the navy writing both linked with the colour of the symbol on the rest of the digipack. After surveying 100 people again though, it was found that the lighter coloured sleeve looked better, as it lightened the digipack up more. In the end the italics on every other line worked better and overall it was easier to see.

Additionally, a lot of people commented on the use of the artist's name at the bottom and with the shadow, as it linked back to the front cover and also seen as this would be the last page of the booklet that was in the inside cover, it was commented that it was like ending it with her name, from start to finish.

Due to unforeseen circumstances with the computer I was working on, deleting my work, I had to restart so this is slightly different to the previous videos and slightly longer.

Third star - first 20 seconds or so edited

This is the first part of my third attempted video that has been edited. Obviously things can be changed later on if I'm not happy with them, but it has given me an idea of what I want, an also a chance to use 'Pinnacle', finding my way around it.

Third star uncut

This video is the uncut version with the third person. This is due to the second person not having enough time to re-film what was unusable or carry on with the rest. Again this video does not have any transitions in, however this is because I would like to show how my video has improved over time.

Update...

Just thought I best update why quite a lot of work is missing at this stage, and it is due to a number of things.

Like everyone else I had exams this month so they took more of a priority for a while (though i can now begin to get back on track) however, I started getting behind when i had the flu, and then blogger ended up deleting some video analysis work so I had to redo it.

By the time I got up to date, my bad streak continued as the first person who was meant to be in my video decided she wasn't comfortable being in it, so I agreed not to use any of the video. After this set back, I eventually found another person to help me out and star in the video, though after getting to a similar stage once again, and trying to review it, the video camera continuously told me to eject the tape. After taking it out though, some of the tape had come out of the plastic casing which turned out to be affected. I have got a copy of the footage that I will post next, and it will show how I couldn't have possibly used this as my main video, as it goes blurry and such through most of the video. This therefore meant the filming was useless and because it would take more time to redo it, the person decided she would prefer not to be part of it anymore, thus leaving me with a need to find another person for the third time to star in the video.

The video above, involves no transitions between each images, or little, and some images do not portray very well what I hope to achieve with my video. This problem is only with one image, though it is shown a few times within the animatic. This is an image of a road, which is the closest I could gather as a person walking down or out of their drive. Also, there are a couple of other pictures, for instance, another one is of a woman in a photograph where the other half is torn. In reality this will be when the person in my video tears the photograph of her now 'ex' into pieces. However, with the information on my powerpoint showing hand drawn images of my storyboard, and the basic images in here, it should give a good idea as to what the video will look like.

Explanation..

Above, once again, is a presentation on my hand drawn storyboard, however it has done the same as last time and changed the images so it is hard to make out some of them, however, as stated before, there is a description below the images on each slide which basically gives an idea on how i hope to conduct my video. Also, for whatever reason, the previous powerpoint will not show, though it still works on slideshare, so that is why I have copied it onto blog again. It did, though,originally work, so in order to repost the powerpoint here, I've had to delete some more up-to-date posts.
